Our Privacy Policy

Respecting your privacy is important to the SPCA. You can have total confidence that your details will always remain confidential. This means we will not sell or exchange your contact details with any companies or organisations without your permission. That’s a promise.

Anonymous data about how people use our site may be collected at times to help us improve the online shopping experience. If we collect personal information (through email or forms) it is stored securely and only used for the purpose it was collected for.

For example, this may be to look at shipping destinations to see which part of New Zealand people are ordering from. As a portion of each sale form a region is paid to the local SPCA branch, this information is important for us to collect.

Cookies are used by many websites to collect information on visitor activity. For example, which pages are visited, in what order and where the visitors come from. This anonymous information is used to improve the performance of the site and make it easier to use.

There are two types of cookies that we use:

    • A persistent cookie that remains on your computer between visits to our site. It doesn't identify you personally, but lets us know that you are a repeat visitor.
    • A session cookie only remains on your computer while you are visiting our site.

We do not use cookies to collect or store personal data and we do not share our cookies with other websites.

As a user you can have complete control over how your computer handles Cookies. You can alter this by changing the settings in your web browser.

    Personal Information

Personal information is collected to process orders or other transactions; or when you choose to sign up to the newsletter or website. Any personal information you send us via email, online forms or other communication is stored securely and will not be used by anyone other than authorised staff. We will always ask for your permission to receive outbound messages or news from the SPCA and you are able to unsubscribe at any time.

Where fraudulent or criminal activity has occurred, the SPCA may be required to provide information to relevant authorities. In this instance we will provide only the information required by law.

Security of Online Credit Card Processing

The SPCA uses DPS Payment Express for secure online processing of credit cards. We do not hold any of your credit card details within our e-commerce system or elsewhere. When you enter your credit card details in the payment field, they are encrypted and processed, and we never actually see your credit card details. All we receive is the payment, and a notification that it was successful.

Direct Payment Solutions Group (trading as Payment Express Ltd) is a Level 1 Service Provider and is compliant to PCI DSS Version 3.1 standard.

PCI DSS is a comprehensive set of requirements created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council for enhancing cardholder data security and to ensure the safe handling and storage of sensitive customer credit card information/data.
